Manager Financial Reporting


Reporting to the Controller of a major division of a Fortune 500 company manufacturing industrial equipment, the Manager Financial Reporting is responsible for the interpretation and implementation of new accounting standards for the division.


Initially, the focus of this role will be on supporting the adoption of the new revenue recognition standard within all business units in the division.


The Manager Financial Reporting will work across departments and functions of the division at all levels to analyze the impact of new accounting standards and implement required accounting and reporting changes. This role will also be responsible to assess internal control requirements, identify and communicate internal control issues and opportunities as well as support the resolution of issues as they relate to new standards implementation.




Lead research and guidance of complex revenue accounting issues.

Prepare, maintain and review supporting revenue accounting documentation, checklists, reports and spreadsheets as appropriate.

Ensure consistency and accuracy in revenue recognition methodologies Serve as technical reference on revenue recognition for the Commercial segment and participate in the corporate-wide team

Review and interpret contracts to determine proper revenue recognition accounting treatment; advise business partners on structure and terminology

Assist in monthly, quarterly and year-end revenue reporting activities and audit requests.

Prepare and review ad-hoc studies regarding specific revenue recognition topics and summarize conclusions that are easily understandable in non-technical language

Cultivate and maintain excellent working relationships with cross-functional professionals to ensure proper accounting is in place for product offerings, pricing and sell in revenue models

Identify changes in existing standards, resolutions and practices to determine potential impact on internal business policies and methodologies; make recommendations to maintain conformity to standards and regulations

Develop strong business acumen with a solid understanding of key business functions (e.g. forecasting and planning, order management, accounting, supply chain), and support changes to these processes to reflect the impact of the new standard changes

Lead and support special projects that may require dedicated resources to perform research and analysis, functional cross-training, and mentoring others Perform other duties as assigned 




Bachelor's degree in Accounting

Minimum 5 years related experience in a public accounting or corporate accounting capacity

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work with various levels of management in a fast-paced environment

High degree of decision-making capacity 

CPA Certification, Public Accounting, and Manufacturing industry experience are preferred
